Scholarship holders in Malawi

How CLS scholarships change lives

From the Classroom to the Future

Many young people in Malawi dream of a better future – a future in which education is the key to new opportunities. But the road there is often difficult. State universities offer only a limited number of places, private universities are often unaffordable, and without financial support, the desire to study or pursue vocational training remains unattainable for many.

The Christian Liebig Stiftung e.V. offers genuine opportunities: scholarships give committed graduates the chance to continue their education. CLS currently supports 12 scholarship holders who are studying or training in a variety of fields:

  • Bachelor of Science in Education
  • Bachelor of Arts in Sociology
  • Bachelor in Textile Engineering
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Midwifery
  • Diploma in General Agricultural Sciences
  • Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Sciences
  • Technical Training

Two of our scholarship holders will complete their education in 2025: Deborah Mkwangwanya in Chemical Engineering and Gabriel Jones as a car mechanic.

Gabriel has been training as a car mechanic at Andiamo Technical College since 2022. In a few months, he will complete his studies – a milestone: “Without the support of the Christian-Liebig-Stiftung e.V., this would not have been possible for me. I am deeply grateful for the help that has given me this opportunity.”

The support of the CLS means a lot to Deborah too: “The Christian-Liebig-Stiftung e.V.has been a constant source of support throughout my studies and has generously financed my projects, tuition fees and my accommodation. I am infinitely grateful for their tireless commitment to enabling me to achieve my academic goals.”

The scholarship means much more than financial support to Gabriel, Deborah and many others – it is the chance to shape their own future. Thanks to the funding, they can not only complete their education, but also use their knowledge to make a difference in their communities. “May God bless the management and all members of the CLS – you have made a crucial contribution to my education. Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” Gabriel says gratefully.

Scholarships change lives – permanently and sustainably

The stories of Gabriel, Deborah and the other scholarship recipients show how crucial education is for the lives of young people in Malawi. Each degree opens up new opportunities.

Every scholarship not only increases knowledge, but also hope for a better future. Thank you to all the supporters who make these opportunities possible.
